Four Hundred Welcomes the Dawn
-- Preface by the Mayor
Tainan is a city rich in humanity, with distinguished talents emerging constantly. In 2024, coinciding with the Tainan Four Hundred anniversary, it is truly gratifying to hear that the artist Su I-Jung will be exhibiting his splendid works at the Tainan Cultural Center.
Artist Su I-Jung, born in Tainan in 1960, currently serves as the Dean of the Chinese Cultural and Arts Institute's Western Painting Academy and as the Director of the Qianhe Art Museum. He has studied painting under renowned masters such as Shen Che-Tsai and Huang Lian-Deng. He has also studied in the United States, with his footprints spanning across New York and Los Angeles. Upon returning to Taiwan, he devoted himself to oil painting, participating in exhibitions worldwide, receiving numerous honors, and actively promoting arts and culture, making significant contributions to the development of arts and culture in Tainan.
In this exhibition, artist Su I-Jung will showcase his "Dawn of 400 - Su I-Jung’s Classic Oil Painting Whiskey," a cultural and creative product featuring his masterpiece "Dawn," depicting the emergence of distant sunlight and the majestic momentum of clouds and mist among the mountains, echoing the annual grand event of Tainan Four Hundred and symbolizing the anticipation of the city's future in this historic moment.
Looking at the artistic achievements of the artist, one can see not only his personal style but also his active participation in social activities and the promotion of arts and culture. I invite fellow citizens to come and appreciate the charm and beauty of art together.
Mayor of Tainan Huang Wei-Che
